One of the most common conditions that we see in our patients is dental disease, because it is easiest for pet owners to miss! Pet dental disease is often left untreated and can cause serious health problems for your pet, including such dangerous health conditions as heart valve disease, kidney disease, and liver disease. Wellness Care:

At Affordable Pet Care Northwest, we strive to educate our clients about proper care for their pets. A large part of what we do includes preventing diseases and keeping pets healthy. Unfortunately we still see a lot of preventable diseases. Preventive medicine and client education are some of the most important services that we provide. Some of our wellness services include:

  • Routine physical examinations
  • Annual vaccinations
  • Testing for heartworms, blood parasites, and intestinal parasites
  • External and internal parasite control
  • Educating clients about how to keep a pet healthy

Client education is a very important part of pet wellness, because a well-educated owner will know best how to care for their pet! We encourage you to ask us if you have any questions about your pet’s needs, and we’ll be glad to help.

Parasite Prevention:

Parasites are disease-carrying vectors that can be a serious threat to your pet if they’re not receiving monthly preventatives. Fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes can be difficult for pets to avoid if they spend time outdoors, so they need to be protected. Common pet parasites include:

  • Heartworms
  • Ticks
  • Fleas
  • Tapeworms
  • Roundworms
  • Hookworms

Common parasite-borne diseases include:

  • Heartworm disease
  • Ehrlichiosis
  • Anaplasmosis (rare)
  • Rocky Mountain spotted fever
  • Lyme disease (rare)

Heartworms are spread by infected mosquitoes, while ehrlichiosis, anaplasmosis, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, and Lyme disease are spread by tick bites. Since these pests are active all year round, it’s essential that you administer monthly doses of heartworm and flea and tick preventatives.

Class IV Laser Therapy:

Affordable Pet Care Northwest now offers Class IV Laser therapy. This treatment option helps almost any inflammatory process heal quickly and greatly reduces pain associated with arthritis and other conditions. We’ll be glad to answer your questions about our Class IV Laser Therapy treatment options.
